Alamo Perth Airport

Perth Airport is located approximately 17km, or 12km (depending on to which terminal you will be travelling) from central Perth in Western Australia.  It is found in the suburb named Perth Airport, and is recognized by its IATA code of PER.  The airport is large, handling approximately 12.6 million passengers every year, and although busy, is reasonably efficient and well equipped.  Included in its facilities are the Perth Airport car rental companies, such as Alamo.  Alamo is well known around the world as a good option for vacationers, and offers reasonable car hire rates.

The airport’s International Terminal is located on the eastern side of the main runway system, and is used by a large number of airline companies that fly to and from a wide range of destinations around the world.  Passengers landing here will find facilities such as currency exchange services, banks, ATMs, shops, restaurants and Wi-Fi connections.  There are also car rental companies in the building nearby the arrivals area.  On the western side of the runway there are currently two domestic terminal buildings, referred to as the Terminals 3 and 4.  They are also large with many facilities and car hire companies within their arrival areas.  On the airport property as well, there is a general aviation terminal for charter flights, and a new Terminal 2 is being built to relieve congestion in the domestic terminals.  This terminal should soon be open and will be used for flights by Tiger Airways, Alliance Airlines and Skywest.

Alamo Perth Airport is a well run car rental company open during most hours of the day and evening, seven days a week.  They are therefore a convenient choice for the majority of passengers on arrival flights, however, Alamo is perhaps most famous for their excellent services towards passengers that are travelling for leisure purposes.  Besides their excellent prices, their services include the rental of child seats and satellite navigation systems, good online support that includes useful weather report information and other details that could be relevant to a vacation in various locations and the rental of hand controls for disabled drivers.  Alamo’s hand control equipment is free of charge, and available only to those with a lower limb disability.  All equipment hired from Perth Airport, including hand controls, are recommended to be reserved at least a few days in advance of your arrival.

Vehicles hired may also be possible to arrange as Alamo one way hires, allowing them to be returned to a location other than Perth Airport.  One way hire services can be convenient, and are usually easy to arrange.  They may not even have additional charges.  However, the renter should confirm to where the vehicle may be driven, as certain cars, or cars of certain car hire companies, are sometimes not permitted to leave Western Australia.  It is also seldom permitted that rented cars are taken on ferries to any nearby island.

Alamo’s vehicles are well maintained and divided into several categories.  They are therefore booked accordingly, rather than by their specific makes and models.  The categories from which customers can choose include Economy, Compact, Standard, Intermediate, Midsize, Fullsize, Fullsize Wagon, Premium, Luxury and Convertible.  The first few categories provide vehicles with low rental rates, and they are smaller car models such as the Hyundai Getz and VW Golf.  Standard, Intermediate and Fullsize vehicles are larger, and often recommended for families.  They can be similar to the Skoda Octavia, Mazda 6, Hyundai I30 2.0, Audi A1, HL Commodore and Toyota Camry.  These cars may include power steering, power brakes, airbags, air conditioning and ABS brakes.

Premium cars from the Perth Airport car hire companies include the Audi A4, Audi Avant 1 and the Mercedes Benz E-Class, while Luxury cars are similar to the Audi A6.  All these vehicles come with higher price tags, but will be sure to impress their drivers.  Luxury and Premium cars may often only be hired by persons over the age of 25, while the Economy and Compact cars are popular choices amongst renters who are under the age of 25.  21, however, is the minimum age requirement for car hire in Australia.  Keep in mind that younger drivers may be subject to higher rental rates due to additional and mandatory insurance.  Young driver fees is payable per day of car hire and per underage driver listed on the rental contract.

Once at the airport, passengers will make their way to the car rental counters of Alamo and show their valid driving licenses and payment cards in order to collect their vehicles.  Licenses printed in English are accepted, but those in a foreign language will need to be accompanied by an International Driving Permit.  Payment cards accepted include American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard and Visa.  Before leaving the airport your vehicle should be checked for existing damages, and you should be provided with any emergency numbers to contact in case of an accident or breakdown.  Always make sure that you know which type of fuel to use in your vehicle, and return the rented car with either a full or as empty as possible tank of fuel, depending on the fuel policies chosen, or available to your rental.

Alamo at Perth Airport will be happy to provide all further assistance required.
