HERTZ Car Rental at Perth Airport

Perth Airport, with the official IATA code of PER, is an Australian airport located approximately half an hour’s drive from the Central Business District of Perth, which is an important city in Western Australia. The airport consists of an eastern and a western side (eastern for international traffic and western for domestic traffic) and has three main terminal buildings. It is well equipped with various facilities, and a number of options for ground transportation are available. Passengers can even rent a car from one of the Perth Airport car hire companies, such as Hertz.

The airport’s terminal buildings are located on either side of the main runway, about eleven kilometers apart. There are two domestic terminals (T3 and T4) and one international terminal (T1). Under construction is Terminal 2, that will be used to relieve congestion in Terminal 3. The airline companies of Tiger Airways, Alliance Airlines and Skywest well then move to Terminal 2, and Terminal 3 will be taken over by Virgin Australia. However, there are free shuttle buses that travel between the airport’s passenger buildings.

Hertz Perth Airport is open from 06:30 to 02:30 during the week and from 07:00 to 02:30 over weekends, in both the domestic and international terminals of the airport. Passengers can easily walk to the rental counters, and will find their vehicles in nearby parking areas as well. Further transport at the airport is therefore unlikely to be required.

Upon collection of the vehicle, the primary renter will need to show a valid driving license, and should be in possession of a major credit card. Driving licenses in English are accepted, but those in another language should be accompanied by an International Driving Permit. This document is acquired in the renter’s home country, and is used for translation of the local license. Always have both licenses with you at all times. Even though this location accepts debit card payments, the renter is most likely still required to have a major credit card in his/her own name. The credit cards that may be used include American Express, Diners Club, Mastercard and Visa. If a debit card is preferable to the customer, one with the Mastercard or Visa logo must be used, and a hold will be placed on the account for the rental charges due.

Each person that will be driving the vehicle will need to meet the above criteria, and should be at least 21 years of age. However, persons younger than 25 will need to pay higher rental rates due to the young driver fees that is added to the account. This could amount to approximately AUD 28 – 30 per day of car hire and per underage driver registered on the rental contract. Underage driver fees are added by all car rental companies.

Hertz a very popular car hire company for their vehicles that can be hired by their specific makes and models, rather than those that can be hired only by category. The Hybrid Auto – Toyota Camry is found in the Green Collection, and the Mini Cooper and Mini Cooper S Cabrio are available in the Fun Collection. A selection of three cars are available in the Prestige Collection, and are ideal for anyone who requires a more stylish vehicle. They are the Lexus IS250, Lexus RX350 Wagon and the Mercedes C200K. Prestige Collection vehicles have a satellite navigation system included in their rental, and come with CD players and airbags. Hertz also has a large number of vehicles that can be hired in the more usual fashion in their Standard Car category, such as the Toyota Yaris, Toyota Corolla, Toyota Camry and the Holden SV6, and larger vehicles are available from the 4WD/SUV/Minivan category, such as the Toyota RAV4, Ford Territory, Toyota Prado and the Toyota LandCruiser.

Special services from Hertz at Perth Airport include the rental of the Hertz NeverLost In-Car Satellite Navigation System, Gold Counter Service and the hire of Hertz hand controls for disabled drivers. This is a device that is used for certain types of vehicles with automatic transmissions, and is useful to persons with a lower limb disability. From Perth Airport, hand controls are free of charge. Satellite navigation systems and child seats, however, will have extra charges. Gold Counter Service is available for customers who belong to the Hertz #1 Club and Hertz #1 Club Gold, the second of which is only joined by frequent renters (persons who have hired a car three or more times in a period of twelve months). All customers may join the Hertz #1 Club, and enjoy a wide range of exclusive time and money saving benefits.

When reserving a vehicle from Hertz, one way hire services can be selected, which means that your rented vehicle is permitted to be returned to a location other than Perth Airport. One way hires are convenient for certain travel itineraries, but could incur additional charges.
